What are multivitamins?

 Multivitamins contain vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that can be used as a dietary supplement.

Multivitamin supplements may be beneficial to certain groups of people with poor diet or those at high risk of macular degeneration.

What multivitamins comprises of?

  • Vitamins C, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, B12, A, E, D2 (or D3), K
  • Minerals: potassium, iodine, selenium, borate, zinc, calcium, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, beta carotene, and/or iron

 

What happens if one takes too much multivitamins?

Overdosing on vitamins A, D, E, or K can have significant or even fatal consequences. If one takes too much of a mineral, it might induce significant overdose symptoms.
