What is lupus?

Lupus, also known as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system of the body attacks healthy tissue throughout the body.

 

Whare are the signs and symptoms of lupus?

  • joints that are painful and swollen
  • a high temperature
  • chest ache
  • hair thinning
  • ulcers in the mouth
  • lymph nodes that are enlarged
  • a fatigued sensation 
  • red rash

What are the causes of lupus?

  • Combination of genetic predisposition and an environmental trigger, resulting in immune system abnormalities.
  • Vitamin D deficiency
