What is gout?
Gout is an inflammatory arthritis that causes a red, sensitive, hot, and swollen joint to flare up on a regular basis. Pain usually develops quickly, peaking in intensity in less than 12 hours. About half of the time, the joint near the base of the big toe is afflicted. Tophi, kidney stones, and kidney damage are all possible side effects.
