What is diverticulitis?
Diverticulitis, particularly called colonic diverticulitis, is a gastrointestinal condition marked by inflammation of unusual pouches (diverticula) that can form in the large intestine's wall.
What are the symptoms of diverticulitis?
- pain in the abdomen
- a high temperature
- a feeling of sickness
- constipation
- indigestion
- faeces with blood
What are the complication caused by diverticulitis?
- Abscess: an accumulation of pus that has built up in the body's tissue
- Fistula: a link between two hollow areas (technically, two epithelialize surfaces), such as blood arteries, intestines, or other hollow organs, that is aberrant.
- Gastrointestinal perforation: hole in the gastrointestinal tracts' wall.
