What is diverticulitis?

Diverticulitis, particularly called colonic diverticulitis, is a gastrointestinal condition marked by inflammation of unusual pouches (diverticula) that can form in the large intestine's wall.

What are the symptoms of diverticulitis?

  • pain in the abdomen
  • a high temperature
  • a feeling of sickness
  • constipation
  • indigestion
  • faeces with blood

 

What are the complication caused by diverticulitis?

  • Abscess: an accumulation of pus that has built up in the body's tissue
  • Fistula: a link between two hollow areas (technically, two epithelialize surfaces), such as blood arteries, intestines, or other hollow organs, that is aberrant.
  • Gastrointestinal perforation: hole in the gastrointestinal tracts' wall.
