What is asthma?
Asthma is considered a situation in which there is difficulty in breathing due to narrowing of the respiratory tract. This narrowing is mostly due to swelling of the air tract.
What is an asthma attack?
An asthma attack takes place when the asthma symptoms are deteriorating or have become quite severe all of a sudden due to contracting of the muscle wall of the airways known as broncospasm.
What are the signs and symptoms of asthma?
- Shortness of breath
- Chest tightness or pain
- Whistling sound during exhalation (mostly in children)
- Mucus in the respiratory tract
- Sleeplessness
- Coughing, during exercise and nighttime
- Rapid breathing
